Our Handcrafted Treats

Still handmade. Still heartfelt. Still here.

Over thirty years ago, I made my first batch of toffee from a friend’s family recipe. The bottom of the recipe read: “Warning: Don’t make on a rainy day.” Curious as to how the rain could possibly affect the toffee, I called for clarification. I was assured the weather had no impact on the toffee at all — it was more a matter of self-control when you’re stuck indoors on a rainy Northwest afternoon. Thousands of toffee batches (and rainy days) later, Island Treats was born — a Mercer Island original built on craftsmanship, curiosity, and community.

For years, our little shop was a gathering place for neighbors, gift-givers, and chocolate lovers alike. While we no longer have a brick-and-mortar storefront, our spirit — and our sweets — are very much alive.

You can still find our chocolates at our beloved Island Books — always ready for those “I-need-a-hostess-gift-tonight” moments or rainy-day chocolate cravings. And here, on our website, you’ll find me (or one of my team members) on the other side of the screen, ready to help you create something special for your event, celebration, or heartfelt gift.

At Island Treats, people have always been our “why.” We don’t just make candy — we craft the finishing touch to life’s meaningful moments. If you’re simply looking to place a candy order, we might not be the right fit. But if you’re looking for care, connection, and sweetness that carries a story — that’s us.

Because even though we’ve pivoted, one thing hasn’t changed:

Every treat we make is still made by hand, with heart — right here on Mercer Island.
